It continues to be a busy time
at Little Weighton Primary School. We have recently achieved
the Healthy School Award, six months ahead of schedule.
This means that the school is recognised by the Local
Authority and Nationally as promoting areas such as physical
activity, emotional wellbeing, cultural awareness as well
as healthy eating.
At present we have plans to improve
the outside environment of the School. In March we planted
willow structures as part of our work in technology. Friends
of the School have kindly donated funds to help with this
work.
The School Council has been running
for a year now. The purpose of this elected body of children
is to give the pupils a voice in improving the school.
Each class have 2 or 3 representatives and elections are
held twice a year, in September and February.
John and Emma say, “ The School
Council has made a big difference to our school in areas
such as; football matches, outdoor play equipment, soap
dispensers and positive improvements to lunchtimes. In
the future we hope to introduce many outdoor activities
and clubs.”
The School is very keen to work
with the village community and would like to get involved
with some of the events and projects. Similarly, we are
always grateful for any support and offers of help. This
could range from; helping to clear the Secret Garden area,
helping in the classroom or relief mid-day supervision
(subject to CRB checks). Please contact us at the School
if you would like to become involved. Tel: 01482 844743
