LITTLE WEIGHTON - CHARITY BARN DANCE

After the wonderful success of last year's Charity Barn Dance, it seemed a good idea to try again! So a date has been set for the,

Bank Holiday Sunday 29th August,Cowlam farm, Rowley Road, Little Weighton

and once again with the kind permission of the Byass family and ALL proceeds going to local charities!

We shall run it very much as last year in that there will be entertainment for the younger ones in the late afternoon, moving on to the traditional Ceilidh Band. The highly acclaimed 'Walkington Ceilidh Band' will be doing their utmost to involve everyone, young and old, swinging their partners in a good old fashioned song and howe-down! Later on, once again we have secured the services of the superb 'Ordinary Men', who were hugely popular last year. Along with a late bar and hot food available, we hope to emulate the huge success of last year's event, and raise funds for this year's charities, which include the Little Weighton village Pond fund and Yorkshire Cancer Research.

As an update to last year's event which was in support of three charities linked to Lindsey Ducker, Tim Hubbard and Emma Frith climbing Killimanjaro, I can confirm that Lindsey, Tim and Emma all successfully reached the summit of Killi' in February with total sponsorship and funds raised well exceeded their £12,000 target, with over £2,500 being raised from the Barn Dance alone. So a BIG thank you to all who attended last year!

Tickets for this year's event will be available from the Little Weighton Post Office, the Black Horse pub (LW), 'Dolly's Country Larder (Cottingham) or myself tel. 848128.

ROWLEY PARISH COUNCIL

PARISH COUNCILLORS NEEDED !

Vacancies for new councillors are currently up to three.

If, as a council, we are to get a balanced and representative view of what the local community requires it is, in my opinion, essential that full membership is maintained. Ideally this should include a good geographical spread of the parish and a variety of minds to enable diversity in debate and interpretation of what you, the parishioners, need, require and expect. Do you have some spare time to attend and contribute to council meetings ? Are you 18 or Over, if so it please get in touch with us;

If you like to be part of the team and help make a difference within the Parish of Rowley then please contact Sandra, our clerk. Tel: 01482 862754.

Many thanks,
Steve Howarth (Chairman) Rowley Parish Council
